NEWS & DIARY

The latest from Reside Developments.

The company started life as a bespoke housebuilder creating a number of award-winning developments. As the planning system changed and its expertise grew the company has, for the last 10 years focused on promoting and delivering strategic sites in partnership with landowners across the southeast. The change in work habitat has resulted with a robust portfolio of nearly 30 sites, which will deliver over 2,000 homes. The Reside Group has always been keen to support a number of charities and local community projects and is delighted this work will continue, whether it's by giving its time and experience to a project, such as the Scout Hut refurbishment, or by raising funds through a charity focused event like the annual golf day.  Suffice to say the 7,300 days in business have gone very quickly and the intention is to enjoy every moment of the 2024 celebrations and revel in the glory of surviving the planning system.  Thank you so much for your support.

Having retired in 2018 from the Reside Group as Richard and Brett's right-hand lady Sandra Gordon has been as busy as ever, this time crafting her first novel titled Teddy, Bishopstone Station's Bear.  The book is centred on a true story of a Teddy Bear that has been locked in a parcel office at a railway station for 30 years and missed by his small owner who thought he'd never see him again. The book has been written to help raise funds for the transformation of the old parcel office into a community hub, which is how Teddy and his owner Guy were reunited.  All the proceeds from the sale of Sandra's book are being donated equally between the Friends of Bishopstone Station and the Brain Tumour Charity, the disease Guy sadly died from in 2022.  The book is an excellent bedtime story for children and equally as enjoyable and engaging for adults - available from Amazon at just £6.99 this book is definitely one for the Christmas sacks and also any school library.

Reside has promoted two of its youngest team members, Fay Goodson and Luke Bargman from senior roles to Planning Manager and Land Manager.  The promotions come in the wake of some very challenging planning and land acquisition deals, which saw the dynamic pair draw upon all their professional skills to bring about a very successful outcome.  Joint Managing Director Richard West commented, “Fay and Luke have developed their skill sets and communications enormously since they’ve been part of the Reside team.  I’m particularly delighted to see Fay taking on a sole lead for Reside and, I’m equally as happy with Luke’s tactical land buying and overall progress, and his performances on and off the rugby pitch!”

We are happy to announce that Reside Developments is one of the main sponsors of the 2022 Surrey Property Awards and Gala Dinner.

We are delighted to be associated with this prestigious awards event and are looking forward to joining over 450 guests from across the property spectrum on 24th November for a superb evening and some entertaining anecdotes from rugby legend Martin Bayfield.  www.surreypropertyawards.co.uk.

As the 72 players gathered at Slinfold Golf Club for the Reside Charity Golf Day spirits were high, but sadly the rain clouds were low with something akin to monsoon conditions greeting the players.  But the hardy group took it all in their stride as they went into battle armed with their 'Mulligan Tokens', umbrellas and waterproofs ready to raise money for Shooting Stars Children's Hospices.  And, back at the clubhouse some 4 hours later and after the sun had made a very welcome appearance, the overall winners were Macar Developments and Paul Basham Associates who had joined forces to win the team competition. Matt Wilson, Sigma Homes and Sam Dutton, Searls Land were announced as winners of the longest drive competitions, with Craig Burton, PDT Solicitors the nearest the pin winner. Declared by all those who attended as a truly brilliant and fun day, the event raised a staggering £12,000 for Shooting Stars Children's Hospices through the various competitions, silent auction and entry fees. Reside would like to thank everyone for their support, encouragement and tenacity and look forward to welcoming you back next year.  Well done everyone and thank you.

Part of a three-man team Resides Planning Director, Andrew Munton joins forces with Iain Painting, Stantec and Simon Potts, A2 Dominion for the most gruelling of cycle challenges, the epic Lands End to John O'Groats ride, also known as LEJOG. A distance of just under 1000 miles and a total climb of nearly 13,000 metres Andrew and his two fellow team mates will start their challenge on 23rd June and finish 9 days later on 1st July in bonny Scotland.  By their own admission this cycle challenge is going to test their endurance, camaraderie, mental and physical agility, but the trio are determined to raise money for the Evelina Children's Hospice. Please visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/paintingpottslejog to make a donation - thank you so much.  Photos and an update will be posted to the Reside website after 1st July 2022.

Reside Group is now certified as Carbon Neutral

In 2021 the Reside Group decided it needed to improve the sustainability of its business and headed for certification to become Carbon Neutral from 2022 onwards.  The business is now delighted to announce that by significantly reducing its carbon footprint, together with offsetting its reduced footprint through investing in sustainably managed woodland, that Carbon Neutral status has been achieved. In the UK, businesses account for over 85% of total Greenhouse Gas emissions - making corporate action the number one priority in helping to reduce climate change. Reside engaged with 'Carbon Neutral Britain' to measure and offset its organisation’s total emissions with the certification demonstrating that it has become a Carbon Neutral enterprise. Reside has also committed to year-on-year reductions to become 'Carbon Negative' by 2023 and are already identifying specific actions that will provide this. Further changes in subsequent years will allow the company to be even more 'Carbon Negative' through its continued actions towards: cycling/walking and car sharing, where possible to and from the workplace, waste reduction, tree planting and enhancements to technology infrastructure to allow flexible working patterns and work from home.

He's probably one of the fittest members of the Reside team, and bordering on being the most crazy.  Yes it's Tim Vincent who is donning his lycra and preparing to pedal his trusty bike from Putney to Guildford, via France in support of the halow250 challenge.  By his own admission he knows this cycle ride, which covers 250 miles in just 48 hours, is going to test his mental and physical agility, but if anyone can complete this epic challenge we know it will be you Tim.  The cycle ride takes place from 29th April and finishes in Guildford on Sunday 1st May 2022, please support Tim if you can https://givepenny.com/timvincent_halow250.

The Reside Developments team can often be found on a rugby pitch or golf course, so when the opportunity to support and encourage young people to get involved in sport arises the company is more than happy to pitch in. For the coming season Reside is delighted to support the Broadbridge Heath Under 14’s Football Team, not just with much needed sponsorship for the 2021/2022 season, but also support from the stands!

Reside Developments was delighted to be one of the main sponsors for the 2021 Surrey Property Awards and Gala Dinner on 25th November, which is the region's most prestigious property event.  Hosted by the very talented Gyles Brandreth with compere Sarah Gobran, co-founder and producer of the Guildford Shakespeare Company, over 450 guests from across the county enjoyed what is being heralded as the best ever awards event.  Visit https://www.surreypropertyawards.co.uk/ to see the award winners and view the film from week commencing 13th December.

Reside is delighted to announce that Planning Director, Andrew Munton is to Chair the 2021 Surrey Development and Surrey Future Conference on 25th November.  The conference will focus on the planning and development issues that Surrey faces and aims to harness some joined up thinking between developers and local authorities to ensure Surrey County Council's masterplan is met successfully.   The conference will take place at the Harbour Hotel in Guildford and is sponsored by Savills and Cratus. https://surreydev.co.uk/event/surrey-future-surrey-development-forum-inaugural-annual-conference/

Record breaking Reside

Reside Developments have recently submitted three planning applications in as many days for sites in: Thakeham, Southwater and Billingshurst - the largest number of applications the business has ever submitted in one go. An outstanding achievement by the team, in particularly tough times.

Further planning applications are currently running for sites in: Eastergate, Funtley and Partridge Green, and in the next few days these sites will be joined by another application for our site in Loxwood.

Reside wishes you all a very happy Christmas

Instead of Christmas cards this year, Reside have donated to our local food bank, a very worthy cause in such hard times. Here’s Santa….I mean, Brett loading up the Reside wagon ready for drop off! Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous 2021.

Reside goes to Twickenham

The highly anticipated England vs Ireland game is taking place on Saturday 21 November, at the home of English rugby, Twickenham.

Sadly, like all sports there will be no spectators. However, the RFU has launched its 'club shirt' initiative whereby the stadium seats will display a shirt from every club in England.

The RFU have agreed to place the Cranleigh shirt close to the singer of the national anthem before the start of the match. We're sure we don't have to encourage you to watch the game, but in further support of Cranleigh RFC, Reside will donate £10 to the club for every photo taken of your TV screen that captures the shirt and is posted to our Twitter or Facebook page.

Winners

We are delighted to announce that our development in Walton on the Hill, Frith Park has won its third award, this time the Highly Commended accolade in the 2020 Evening Standard New Homes Award, Best Small Development category.

Reside Returns to the Office

The spring and summer of 2020 will be one we will not easily forget. Like many businesses during this time, the safety of our employees and clients was at the forefront of our minds when deciding on a date to return to the office. Having worked hard to ensure all the appropriate Covid changes were made to our newly refurbished and extended office, we were absolutely delighted to welcome back the full Reside team on 7th September. The plentiful summer sunshine has certainly energised us all and our land and planning teams in particular are busier than ever. We never actually closed the doors for business, but now more than ever Reside Developments is well and truly open for business.  We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you, in person, soon.

On Wednesday 9th October, Reside & the Savills South East Development team undertook the monumental task of restoring the 6th Lewes Group Scout Hut.  The Hut suffered serious damage after a night of mindless vandalism and ever since, the Scouts and other community groups that use the Hut have had a nomadic existence.
