Reside submitted an application for 58 houses on 1.61 hectares at the Holbrook Club to Horsham DC for residential development, with access from Jackdaw Lane in December 2016. At the same time Reside submitted a ‘linked’ application for a new football ground for Horsham FC on land at Horsham Golf & Fitness. Consent was granted in August 2017.

Under normal circumstances the loss of playing fields for housing at the Holbrook Club would not have been supported, however this loss was mitigated, in fact surpassed, by the provision of a new 3G artificial grass pitch and 3G training pitch together with a new clubhouse and associated facilities at the new Horsham FC ground. Significant reports and discussions were held with Sport England to achieve success with this planning concern.

In addition to the usual planning hurdles, Reside conducted significant community engagement to muster support for the entire project. This included a standalone consultation website and two all-day exhibitions in Horsham Town Centre and Southwater which were run by both Reside and members of Horsham FC.

By achieving a valuable planning permission this enabled Horsham FC to fully fund the acquisition of their new home and complete the whole development.

While the football club managed the provision of the new pitches, Reside Construction, delivered the new 5,000 square foot clubhouse and associated facilities.

The residential housing site was sold to Cala Homes in January 2018
